Prerequisites
- Include the Salesforce IP address ranges for all regions in your allowlists. See IP Addresses and Domains to Allow and Hyperforce IPs to Allow - Sales, Service, Industries, and Tableau Clouds.
- If you pin certificates, pin the intermediate certificate because Salesforce Edge Network uses data center-specific certificates. For more information, see Certificates in Salesforce.
- To enable global caching on a Visualforce page with Salesforce Edge Network in a Hyperforce org, use the apex:page cache attribute.
- Coordinate with your third-party service or CDN to update the target host name for your domain immediately after you move to Salesforce Edge Network. This update is required if a third-party service or CDN serves your Digital Experiences or Salesforce sites on a custom domain. Otherwise, your custom domain stops working. Verify the correct host name in Prerequisites for a Custom Domain That Uses a Third-Party Service or CDN.
Enable Salesforce Edge Network
- From Setup, find and select My Domain.
- Under Routing and Policies, select Edit.
-
Select Use Salesforce Edge Network, and save your
changes.
Note After enablement, you have a 7-calendar-day rollback window if you encounter unexpected issues. After that window, log a case with Salesforce Support to discuss your options. -
Select your routing method.
- Global—Direct requests to the Salesforce Edge Network location closest to
the user.
Select this option for the best performance and security. This option is the default.
- Use Salesforce locations in {Region} Only—Direct requests to Salesforce
Edge Network locations only within the region where your org is located. For example,
if your Salesforce instance is in Japan, all requests route through Salesforce Edge
Network locations in Japan.
The Routing Method field remains editable for seven days after you turn on regional routing. After that, contact Salesforce Customer Support to change your routing method.
This option is available only in orgs on a Hyperforce instance in Japan.
Warning Although regional routing can help you meet data residency and regulatory requirements, this routing method can impact performance.
- Global—Direct requests to the Salesforce Edge Network location closest to
the user.
- Save your changes.
To prevent conflicts, wait 15 minutes after switching to Salesforce Edge Network and before making any other change that requires provisioning. For example, a change to your My Domain name provisions new host names for your org.
