          Understand Salesforce Edge Network

Salesforce Edge Network is a network technology that improves download times for users around the globe and provides security protection to Salesforce organizations. Users get a better network experience while remaining on the Salesforce trusted infrastructure, which protects, uses, and processes data appropriately and in accordance with the law.

          Required Editions

Available in: both Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience
Available in: Group, Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions

Salesforce Edge Network sends a user’s request to the nearest network location. It uses geographic load balancing that picks an IP address based on the user’s IP address.

Among its benefits, Salesforce Edge Network:

          • Uses Transport Layer Security (TLS) to enable secure connections. The Edge Network supports persistent TLS connections and streamlines the setup process, reducing connection times while maintaining end-to-end encryption.
          • Enhances data transfer speed and reduces connection time through optimized Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) configurations.
          • Caches content with HTTP headers marked as cacheable by Salesforce or customer integrations, such as public JavaScript and CSS files.
          • Routes user traffic to the closest and most optimal Salesforce data center based on real-time network conditions, improving performance and responsiveness.
          • Protects Salesforce organizations from Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks by using built-in Web Application Firewall (WAF).
