Install and Configure the Data Detect Legacy-Managed Package
You can install the Data Detect legacy-managed package in production and sandboxes. After
you install the package, configure access controls to make sure that users can access
it.

Note The Data Detect legacy-managed package is unavailable for Summer '26. If you enabled
Data Detect legacy-managed package before Summer '26, it remains available in your
Salesforce org. We recommend that you use the new Salesforce Data Detect app instead. The
new Data Detect app is now part of the Shield app. See Data Detect End of Support.
Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and
Developer Editions.
Requires the Salesforce Shield add-on
subscription.

Download AppExchange Packages
Before installing the Data Detect managed package in production, make sure that My Domain is
enabled.
Note To configure session security for government cloud organizations, make sure to deselect
Lock sessions to the IP address from which they originated in
Session Settings. For more information on configuring Session Security Settings, visit Salesforce Help.
Go to the installation URL for Data Detect managed package:

Follow the standard process for installing a managed package.
Make sure that users who require access to Data Detect managed package have the System
Administrator user profile.
Give Data Detect managed package users write access to the objects that you want them
to scan. Scans initiated by a user only include objects that the user has write access
to.
