Verify Your Email Address and Return Email Address in Salesforce

Verify Your Email Address and Return Email Address in Salesforce

To send email from Salesforce, verify your email address. And to use a different return email address for email from Salesforce, verify that email address, too.

          Note
Note If you can’t select your email address as the “From address” in Salesforce after you verify your email address and return email address, contact your Salesforce admin. Share your email address and ask them to verify your email domain.

          Verify Your Email Address

These actions verify your Salesforce email address.

          • When you confirm your email after your Salesforce account is first created.
          • When you reset your password via a link that you received in an email.

If you can’t access Salesforce, ask your Salesforce admin to reset your password. Your email address is verified when you reset your password.

If you can access Salesforce but your email address isn’t verified, send yourself a verification email.

          1. From your personal settings, in the Quick Find box, enter Advanced User Details, and then select Advanced User Details.
If your email is verified, you see [Verified] next to your email address and no further action is required.
          2. Next to your email address, click Verify.

You receive an email with a verification link that expires after 72 hours. While that verification link is active, you can’t use the Verify link to send yourself another verification email.

          3. To finish verifying your Salesforce email address, click the link in the email.

          Verify Your Return Email Address

On the My Email Details page in Settings, you can specify a return email address for emails that you send through Salesforce. To use the new return email address, verify your return email address.

A Salesforce admin can’t initiate the verification process for your return email address.

          Note
Note This option applies only to emails sent through Salesforce.
          1. If you updated your return email address within the last 72 hours, click the link in the confirmation email.
The subject line for the confirmation email contains this phrase: Finish changing your Salesforce account’s outgoing email address.
          2. If you updated your return email more than 72 hours ago, save the change to your return email address again.
            1. From your personal settings, in the Quick Find box, enter My Email Settings, and then select My Email Settings.
            2. In the Send through Salesforce section, in the Email Address field, enter the email to use for your return address in emails sent from Salesforce. Then save your changes.

If you updated your return email address to match your Salesforce email address, no verification is required. The change takes effect immediately and the updated return email address is reflected in My Email Settings.

If the return address differs from your email address in Salesforce, a verification email is sent to the return email address. The new return email address isn’t effective or reflected in My Email Settings until you complete the next step.

            3. To finish verifying your return email address, click the link in the email.

When verification is complete, My Email Settings reflects the new return email address.
