Learn What the Setup Agent Can Do

Explore how Setup with Agentforce can help with your administrative tasks by asking the Setup agent about its capabilities directly.

  1. On Setup Home, type your question in the prompt bar. Or, from any page in Setup, click the Ask Agent for Setup button (Ask Agent for Setup button) to open the Agentforce panel.
  2. In the prompt bar, type, “What can you do?”
  3. Review the agent’s response to see all supported administrative tasks.
  4. To learn more about specific areas, ask follow-up questions, such as:
    • “What can you do related to user access management?”
    • “How can you help me with flows?”
    • “What reporting tasks do you support?”

Understand Your Salesforce Org

Ask the Setup agent questions to better understand your org’s configuration and current state. For these examples, the Setup agent only provides information without making any changes.

  1. Ask questions about user access and permissions:
    • “What level of access does [User] have to the Account object?”
    • “Can [User] create permission sets?”
    • “List sharing rules for accounts.”
    • “What’s the organization-wide default for the Contact object?”
    • “Who has access to the [Record Name] account record and how do they have this access?”
    • “What permissions do I need to convert leads?”
  2. Review recent changes in your org:
    • “What changes were made to user permissions in the last week?”
    • “Show me recent changes to organization-wide defaults.”
    • “What configuration changes were made in the Setup Audit Trail yesterday?”
  3. Explore org health and usage:
    • “What is my org’s security health score?”
    • “How much data storage am I using?”
    • “Show me my license usage.”

Preview a Configuration Change

When you ask the Setup agent to create or update something in your org, it shows exactly what it plans to do. You can review the suggested change before confirming it, or choose not to implement it.

  1. Ask the agent to create a simple feature, such as:
    • “Create a custom object called Event Registration.”
    • “Create a permission set that grants read and edit permissions on Account.”
    • “Create a flow that sends an email notification when a case is created.”
  2. Answer additional questions from the agent and review the proposed changes. The agent displays:
    • What will be created or modified
    • Field details, permissions, or configuration settings
    • A prompt asking you to confirm the changes
  3. Instead of confirming, ask follow-up questions to understand the proposal:
    • “What fields would this object include?”
    • “Would this permission set include any other permissions?”
    • “Can you explain how this flow works?”
  4. To finish the conversation, you can either:
    • Reply “Confirm,” “Proceed,” or “Yes” to implement the change
    • Close the conversation to cancel without making changes
    Note
Note The Setup agent never makes changes without your explicit approval. You can explore proposals without affecting your org.

Now that you understand how to talk with the Setup agent and preview changes, you’re ready to use Setup with Agentforce to streamline your administrative tasks. See Explore What Setup with Agentforce Can Do for all supported capabilities.
