Multi-Currency: Why can't I modify the currency selected for an Opportunity?

Resolution

Organizations that have Multi-currency enabled have the option of setting the default currency for each Opportunity. As long as this field is visible on the page layout this field can be modified, but only if a Product has not been added to the Opportunity. Once a Product record has been added the default currency can no longer be modified, as the Product record was created using the existing default currency. Any Product records must be removed before the Opportunity currency can be modified.

Note: The "Opportunity Currency" field is only visible on the create and edit pages of an opportunity.
