Unable to edit a profile with Platform User license

System Administrators trying to edit a Standard Platform User profile or a cloned Custom Profile associated to the Salesforce Platform license get the error message: "Please fix the following: Standard tabsets are not permitted for this profile."
Resolve The Error
1. Does the profile have any Service Cloud Console apps associated to it? If yes, then disable the app for the profile.
2. Are there any Standard Tabs enabled other than Accounts, Contacts, Reports, Dashboards and Documents? If yes, turn the tab setting for that standard object to Hidden.
