Reschedule an Auto Assignment Batch for an inactive user in Maps

Publish Date: May 5, 2026
Description

Auto Assignment Batches will stop working if the person who was assigned as the running user of the scheduled job has been deactivated. A user is normally deactivated in your Salesforce org when they leave the company. For example, if a sales operations manager who owned the batch schedule left the company and their user was deactivated, Auto Assignment will silently stop running until a new schedule is created by an active user. This article outlines the way to restart an Auto Assignment Batch.

Resolution

To restore Auto Assignment functionality, you must first delete the orphaned scheduled job associated with the deactivated user, then reconfigure the batch schedule under the Installed Packages configuration for Salesforce Maps. The following steps walk through both tasks in sequence.

Deleting a Scheduled Job

  1. Navigate to Setup | Scheduled Jobs. Select Scheduled Jobs.
  2. Select Delete to delete the 'Maps Auto Assignment' job that is running for the inactive user.

Restarting the Auto Assignment Batch

  1. Navigate to Setup | Installed Packages. Select Installed Packages.
  2. Select Configure next to Salesforce Maps.
  3. Select Auto Assignment from the left-hand side.
  4. Select Scheduled Plans.
  5. Click the Set Schedule button.
  6. Check the Run schedule button and set an interval for the assignment plan to run.
  7. Click Save.

Note: You can remove the Auto Assignment Scheduled Job by clicking the Set Schedule button and unchecking Run schedule.
