Calculation of Regular Price for Products on new Quotes in CPQ

Publish Date: Oct 14, 2025
Description

When a Product is added to a new Quote, the price resides in two Quote Line fields for the Product:

  • SBQQ__OriginalPrice__c
  • SBQQ__ListPrice__c

Both of these fields reflect the Pricebook Entry from the corresponding Pricebook and currency. This article outlines the elements that consider System Discounts as well as provide insight into the hierarchy of these discounts where appropriate.

Resolution
As can be seen in the Salesforce CPQ Price Waterfall, there is an opportunity to manipulate List Price using Original Price (see Price Rule Considerations) prior to the Sales User applying an Additional Discount.  This price change will be reflected in SBQQ__RegularPrice__c.

The Price Waterfall notes that System Discounts, which includes Discount Schedules, influence Regular Price.  Note these additional elements that can impact Regular Price:
  • Option Discounts on the Product Option object.  This discount is applied to the Unit Price of the option.
    • Discount (%), SBQQ__Discount__c
    • Discount (Amt), SBQQ__DiscountAmount__c
    • NOTE: If both fields are populated, Discount % takes precedence.
  • Contracted Prices - Three fields on the Contracted Price object are considered.
    • Price, SBQQ__Price__c
    • Discount, SBQQ__Discount__c
    • Discount Schedule, SBQQ__DiscountSchedule__c
  • Pricing Method on the Product object.
  • System Discounts, which includes Discount Schedules, influence Regular Price. This can be seen in the CPQ Price Waterfall.
