Error 'Destination URL not reset' when you log in to Data Loader.

Дата публикации: Jun 17, 2026
Описание

When you attempt to log in to Salesforce Data Loader, you may encounter the following error message:

'Destination URL not reset. The URL returned from login must be set in the SforceService'

What this error means:

This error indicates that Data Loader is not automatically resetting the login URL after authentication. This commonly occurs when:

  • The "Reset URL on Login" setting is not enabled in Data Loader's configuration.
  • Your network security tools (such as Zscaler) are blocking or redirecting the login URL.
  • You are running an outdated version of Data Loader that has a known bug related to URL handling.

Data Loader is a client application that allows you to import, export, insert, update, upsert, and delete Salesforce records in bulk. The "SforceService" referenced in the error is the internal Salesforce API service that Data Loader uses to communicate with your Salesforce org.

Решение

Steps to resolve the 'Destination URL not reset' Data Loader sign-in error:

Option 1 — Enable "Reset URL on Login" in Data Loader settings (most common fix):

  1. Open your Data Loader application.
  2. Open the Settings menu.
  3. Directly below the Login URL field, locate and select the "Reset URL on Login" checkbox.
  4. Click OK to save the setting.
  5. Try to log in again.

Option 2 — Check for network security blocking:

Check with your Network Team to verify whether access to Salesforce login endpoints is being blocked by internal security tools such as Zscaler or a corporate proxy. If the login URL is being intercepted or redirected by a security appliance, Data Loader may not receive the correct URL response from Salesforce, triggering this error.

Option 3 — Install the latest version of Data Loader:

Installing the latest version of Data Loader has resolved this error for some customers. Older versions of Data Loader may have bugs related to login URL handling that are fixed in newer releases.

Additional note — Developer Console:
If you are experiencing this same error message in the Developer Console (not Data Loader), see: Developer Console: "Destination URL not reset. The URL returned from login must be set in the SforceService."
If none of the above options resolve the issue, contact Salesforce Support.
