Salesforce retired Files Connect for SharePoint On-Premises and the Secure Agent connectivity layer on October 1, 2021. At Salesforce, customer success is our top priority. We recommend that all customers migrate to Files Connect for SharePoint Online or an equivalent alternative solution.
Files Connect for SharePoint Online provides the same core functionality as Files Connect for SharePoint On-Premises. It offers flexible, secure access to your SharePoint files within Salesforce, with no additional licensing costs.
What is Secure Agent? The Secure Agent is the connectivity layer that Files Connect for SharePoint On-Premises uses to communicate between Salesforce data centers and SharePoint hosted in customer data centers. Secure Agent is not required for Files Connect for SharePoint Online.
Salesforce continues to support existing subscriptions through the end of your contract term. However, we strongly recommend taking action now — well before the retirement date — to migrate to an alternative solution.
Microsoft has ended mainstream support for SharePoint 2010 and 2013 — the on-premises versions supported by Files Connect. Salesforce has also been unable to help customers resolve SharePoint issues that originate from local configuration problems. With Files Connect for SharePoint Online, Salesforce can offer the level of support you expect.
Evaluate a migration to Files Connect for SharePoint Online or an alternative solution. To make this transition more seamless, Salesforce offers the ability to swap the remaining value of your Files Connect for SharePoint On-Premises subscription. Salesforce waives the administrative swap fee. Swap-eligible products may be subject to additional terms.
To initiate the swap, contact your Account Executive. To learn more about migrating to SharePoint Online, review Microsoft’s Migrate to SharePoint Online and use Microsoft's SharePoint Migration Assessment tool.
Also remove the Secure Agent downloadable client, as it ceased to provide connectivity after October 1, 2021.
