Setting up Area Roles in Salesforce Maps Territory Planning

Publish Date: Oct 13, 2022
Description
Select roles that you want available from Enterprise Territory Management for assigning users to areas in Salesforce Maps Territory Planning. Create any other roles that fit with your territory planning efforts. After you create alignments and publish them to Enterprise Territory Management, assigned users and their roles appear in Salesforce territory models.
Resolution
Before you start using the Assigned Users section when editing a territory, you need to configure Area Roles from the Territory Planning Settings page.  Following are the important items to take a note of-
  1. Each role can be mapped to one Territory Team Role.
  2. The Area Owner is a default role and cannot be deleted.
  3. Area Roles are not required for publishing to Enterprise Territory Management. However, is required if you want to leverage Roles in Territory.
  4. If you have configured assigned users prior to Summer‘22, then those users will still be published to ETM with the text role. However, if you edit the assigned user, you will need to use a configured role.

Territory Team Role
  • You can map the Territory Planning Role to any configured Territory Team Role (Setup → Object Manager → User Territory Associations → Role in Territory).
  • This will be published to Enterprise Territory Management when using that option.
