About the Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator II Exam

The Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator II Exam is designed for individuals who have the expertise of a seasoned Salesforce Administrator. The program encompasses the breadth of applications, the features and functions available to an end user, and the advanced configuration, management, and application extending options available to an administrator across the Salesforce Platform.

There are two certifications within the Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator program. The first is the Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator certification, which focuses on the features and functionality used to maintain a Salesforce implementation. 

The second certification in the program is the Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator II. This certification is targeted toward the Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator who has become proficient in Salesforce configuration maintenance, can demonstrate an understanding of administration best practices, and is able to use the advanced features and functionality to solve a variety of business problems.

 

Audience Description: Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator II

The Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator II Exam is intended for an individual who has significant experience performing as a Salesforce Administrator, including hands-on experience applying the skills and concepts noted in the exam outline in the Exam Section below. The candidate is a Salesforce Platform Administrator who has successfully completed the Administer, Extend, and Automate Salesforce course (ADX211) from Salesforce or an Authorized Training Center or possesses the equivalent experience and knowledge. The candidate has also invested time in studying the course materials and additional study materials provided by Salesforce. 

The candidate should have a broad knowledge of the full application capabilities, the features/functions available to an end user, and the configuration and management options available to an administrator across the Salesforce Platform. The candidate should be capable of performing administration functions at an expert level, using the full set of Salesforce features as described in the exam outline. The candidate can leverage the advanced administration capabilities of Salesforce to solve specific business challenges and automate complex business processes. The candidate should be able to recommend configuration enhancements and the best practices to optimize and extend an organization’s use of Salesforce. The candidate actively seeks out new functionality as it becomes available and can evaluate the potential benefits of new features for an organization.

The candidate should be able to:

  • Appropriately define record and field data access based on business requirements.
  • Create custom objects and define the appropriate relationship types.
  • Set up and configure Sales and Service Cloud applications.
  • Understand the capabilities of forecasting.
  • Set up and configure Salesforce Knowledge and entitlements.
  • Assess, cleanse, and maintain data quality using standard Salesforce functionality.
  • Understand the capabilities of sandboxes and the tools available to move data between environments.
  • Use custom report types, reporting snapshots, complex charting, custom summary formulas, bucketing, joined reports, and cross-filters to build reports that meet complex business requirements.
  • Use dynamic dashboards and dashboard filters to enhance dashboards.
  • Create flows, workflow rules, approval processes, and formula fields to automate complex business processes.

About the Exam

Here are details about the Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator II Exam.

  • Content: 60 multiple-choice/multiple-select questions and up to five unscored questions
  • Time allotted to complete the exam: 105 minutes
  • Passing score: 65%
  • Version: Exam questions align to the Summer '22 release
  • Registration fee: US$200, JPY 30,000, plus applicable taxes as required per local law
  • Retake fee: US$100, JPY 30,000, plus applicable taxes as required per local law
  • Delivery options: Proctored exam delivered onsite at a testing center or in an online environment; find more information on scheduling an exam here.
  • References: No hard-copy or online materials may be referenced during the exam.
  • Prerequisite: Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator Certification

This exam may contain up to five additional unscored questions to gather performance data. Unscored questions are randomly integrated and have no impact on your final exam result.

 

Exam Outline

The Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator II Exam measures a candidate’s knowledge and skills related to the following objectives. A candidate should have hands-on experience as a Salesforce Administrator and have demonstrated the application of each of the features/functions below.
 

Security and Access: 20%
  • Given a scenario, determine the implications to record and field data access (Sharing model, controlled by parent, grant access by hierarchies, dashboard and report folders access, email folder access, Territory Management).
  • Compare and contrast the capabilities of custom profiles, permission sets, and delegated administration.
  • Given a scenario, determine the implications of user authentication.
  • Compare and contrast the capabilities of a complex business model (Person accounts, Account, Contacts, and Contact to multiple Accounts).

 

Objects and Applications: 19%
  • Given a scenario, determine the appropriate solution to enhance or extend objects (master-detail, lookup, junction object, related list, record type, Schema Builder, and Object Creator).
  • Given a scenario, determine the appropriate solution to enhance or extend the UI/UX with applications (App Manager, Lightning App Builder, Dynamic Forms, standard Lightning page components, Console, and Lightning page analyze button).

 

Auditing and Monitoring: 10%
  • Given a scenario, determine the appropriate tools for monitoring and troubleshooting system activity (debug log, set up audit trail).
  • Explain how to ensure sensitive data is set up to support a business/legal/compliance use case in production and sandbox environments.
  • Explain how to review and troubleshoot security settings including pending updates that may change system access.

 

Cloud Applications: 11%
  • Describe the features of Salesforce which enable Sales users to conduct the sale process, including products, price books, schedules, orders, and quotes.
  • Distinguish and understand the implications and capabilities of Forecasting and Territory Management.
  • Explain how to create and maintain Salesforce Knowledge (article record types, data categories).
  • Explain how to create and maintain service entitlements and entitlement processes.
  • Describe the features of Salesforce which enable interaction between support agents and customers (Chat, Case Feed, Service Cloud Console, Experience Cloud sites, Omni-Channel).
  • Given a scenario, understand the standard Salesforce suite of products that enable extending the core platform.

 

Data and Analytics Management: 13%
  • Explain the tools and best practices for assessing, improving, and enriching data quality (data types, validation, managing duplicates, enriching, archiving).
  • Given a scenario, determine the appropriate analytic tools to meet complex reporting requirements (custom report types, reporting snapshots, complex charting, custom summary formulas, bucketing, joined reports, cross filters, dynamic dashboards, dashboard filters).
  • Understand methods to connect to, access, backup/restore, or archive data outside of the Salesforce Platform (big objects, data warehouse, external objects, data lakes, third-party solutions, and Salesforce Connect).
  • Given a scenario, identify the appropriate tools and methods for importing data into Salesforce (data import wizard, data loader, and external ID).

 

Environment Management and Deployment: 7%
  • Describe the options available to move metadata between environments (change sets, sandboxes, and AppExchange - managed/unmanaged).
  • Describe the capabilities and best practices for using change sets to move metadata between environments.

 

Process Automation: 20%
  • Given a complex scenario, determine the solution using the best tool or combination of tools to solve a business problem.
  • Given a scenario, identify the appropriate tool or method for troubleshooting declarative automation.
  • Given a scenario, explain the capabilities and limitations of each declarative automation tool.
  • Understand the implications of the order of execution when using automation tools.
