Note We’re reorganizing the Einstein Activity Capture documentation. We’re
moving some information around, but we aren’t deleting anything.
The Einstein Activity Capture configuration settings control which data is captured from your connected account. Salesforce admins manage these settings and can learn about customization options in Set Up Einstein Activity Capture for Your Team. - Guidelines for Using Sync Email as Salesforce Activity
When Sync Email as Salesforce Activity is enabled, Einstein Activity Capture captures and stores email data as Salesforce records. It gets associated with a relevant user, contact, or lead record and a related account or opportunity. You can use the email data in reports, workflows, and triggers and access the data through APIs. There’s also more privacy options for email capture and customizable flows for matching your email to other records. - How Email Activity Matches with Other Records
When Sync Email as Salesforce Activity is turned on, Einstein Activity Capture tries to associate each address in the From, To, and CC on the email to user, contact, or lead records. The addresses and related activity are also matched with account and opportunity records. The default matching logic considers record ownership, recent activity, and other factors to connect new addresses and activity to your existing data. - Header Only Email Capture with Sync Email as Salesforce Activity
When the header only setting is turned on, capture only the sender, recipients, date, and time an email is sent. The email subject and message body aren’t captured. Header only email capture offers more privacy but isn’t compatible with some Einstein generative AI features. - Considerations for Sync Email as Salesforce Activity
Keep these limits and considerations in mind when Sync Email as Salesforce Activity is enabled in Einstein Activity Capture and using Activities: Match Email to Records flow to match captured email data to existing records. - Using Emails Without Sync Email as Salesforce Activity in Einstein Activity Capture
This information is relevant only to versions of Einstein Activity Capture set up before the Summer ’25 release and that haven't updated to Sync Email as Salesforce Activity. If you have a newer version of Einstein Activity Capture or have migrated email to sync as activity, this information doesn't apply to you.
