Federated Search in Experience Cloud Sites

Finding content is key for your customers. But when content is brought in using CMS Connect (JSON), it’s only displayed in Salesforce, not hosted there. Standard searches can’t find that content unless you implement federated search to include the source site.

Fortunately, Salesforce has an easy way to do that already built in. Before you begin, make sure that you have an External Authentication Provider set up for your source site.

          • Create the External Object
Enabling federated search is a two-phase process. First include the external site in the search engine scope, and then expose the results to your customers.
          • Configure the External Object
Now that the search information is identified and the data available, you can make it available to the Community User Profile.
          • Enable the Object in Experience Cloud Sites
Now that you’ve added the connection and set all the permissions, expose the results to the customers in your community. To display the results, add them to the Global Search Results component of Experience Builder.
