In this example a parameter is added to enable a dashboard filter to update a component
chart by Industry selections.

Developer Edition.

Needed
To create a parameter:
Create and Edit Analytics Dashboards
Create a parameter in the component widget and copy its parameter ID.
Add the parameter to the filter. Click the Query tab and paste the copied parameter ID
to the filters value.
Save the component.
Edit the dashboard where the component is embedded.
Click the updated component widget and click the Parameters
tab.
Click the parameter you created.
Select Dynamic from the Value Type dropdown menu.
Click Choose Query and select the filter query for the component
to interact with.
Select a field value from the New Value menu that the component filters by.
Select an interaction type then click Update.
Dashboard filter selections now update the component.
