Control Update Behavior for Tableau Next Dashboard Widgets

Configure Tableau Next dashboard widgets to automatically receive or ignore specific filter or parameter selections.

User Permissions Needed
To edit Tableau Next dashboards: Tableau Unmetered Platform Analyst or Tableau Next Platform Analyst permission set

Dashboard widgets automatically receive filter and parameter selections that you make. However, you can specify the behaviors a widget can receive or ignore. For example, you can set a Year-Over-Year metric to None so it always stays consistent.

  1. Select the Widget tab for the widget you want to update.
  2. Control filter interactivity
    1. To manage filters, go to the Filters category to find Receive Dashboard Filters.

    2. To manage parameters, go to the Parameters category to find Receive Dashboard Parameters.
  3. Select a setting.
    1. Click All (default) to automatically apply all dashboard inputs.
    2. Click Include to apply selected dashboard inputs. Click Add then select the filters or parameters the widget can receive.
    3. Click Exclude to exclude selected dashboard inputs. Click Add then select the filters or parameters the widget will ignore.
    1. Click None to ignore all dashboard inputs.
