          Asset
Content or workspace inside Tableau Next. Assets include data objects, semantic models, metrics, visualizations, dashboards, workspaces.
          Calculated Dimension
A custom dimension created in Tableau Semantics to apply specific logic to existing data. It helps classify, group, and refine dimension values without altering the raw data. Calculated during queries, it can be used in reports, pivot tables, or dashboards. For example, Full Name = [First Name] + " " + [Last Name].
          Calculated Insight
A tool in Data 360 that queries, transforms, and creates complex calculations based on stored data. It helps identify and highlight significant patterns and insights.
          Calculated Measure
A numerical custom calculation in Tableau Semantics that generates values based on existing data. It's computed at run time and can be a simple expression or complex code. It includes metadata like default aggregation, data type, and aggregation type, and can be used in dashboards, reports, or visualizations. For example Price = [ItemCost]*[Quantity]*(1-[Discount]).
          Calculated Insight Object (CIO)
A data model object created after a calculated insight is processed. You can connect to an existing CIO in Data 360 and add it as a data asset in your workspace.
          Comma-Separated Values (CSV)
A text file that stores data in tabular format. CSV files are commonly used to move data between applications and programs. Similar terms include text file or flat file.
          Dashboard
A curated set of metrics, visualizations, and filters intended to analyze related information. Often interactive and designed to answer a specific data analysis question.
          Data
A collection of values or information, or a piece of information. Data fields can be dimensions or measures and can take many forms such as text or numbers.
          Data 360
A product used to organize and unify data across Salesforce and other external data sources. After data has been ingested into Data 360, it can be manipulated and filtered into audience segments that can be used in activation targets, like Marketing Cloud Engagement.
          Data Lake Object (DLO)
A storage container within the data lake for the data ingested into all data streams within Data 360. It serves as a repository for the transformed data stored in the lake.
          Data Model Object (DMO)
A grouping of data stored in Data 360. A DMO is made up of attributes created from data streams, insights, and other sources. This can be raw data or transformed data, depending on how the data was initially added and processed.
          Data Stream
A data source brought into Data 360. See also: DMO.
          Data Source
Any system you can obtain data from, such as a database, API, flat file, or streaming data platform.
          Dimension
Qualitative data field that usually contains categorical data, such as Product Category, Lead Status, and Case Subject. Dimensions are handy for grouping and filtering your data. Unlike measures, you can’t perform math on dimensions. See also: Measure.
          Logical View
A data object that combines multiple tables using special joins. It allows you to query the enriched dataset as a single object, with its own fields, and can be used in relationships, calculated fields, metrics, and other semantic definitions.
          Insight
A driver, trend, contributor, or outlier that Tableau Next automatically detects for metrics. Insights highlight and describe hidden changes or anomalies in metrics.
          Measure
Quantitative data field that contains numerical data like revenue and exchange rate. You can do math on measures, such as calculating the total revenue and the minimum exchange rate. See also: Dimension.
          Metric
Business key performance indicators (KPIs) used to track, compare, and assess performance or business processes over time. A metric is derived from one or more measures and a date field. Metrics are built from Semantic Models.
          Personal Space
An isolated environment for analysts to work safely in a self-service manner without disturbing other managed environments. Analysts can bring their own data, reuse assets from other places, and perform their work independently.
          Semantic Definition
The building blocks of Semantic Models, providing context and meaning to the data. They include field metadata, Calculated Measures, Groups, Sets, and more.
          Semantic Model
A collection of metadata that describes the data in a data object. It describes the grouping of semantic definitions, and can also include metrics and calculated insights. Semantic models that consist of multiple data objects also define the relationships between data objects.
          Sub-Metrics
Detailed performance indicators that provide additional granularity to a main metric, such as Total Revenue YTD or Average Monthly Close Rate.
          Tableau Next
The composable, AI-analytics platform for any data, enabled by Data 360 and the Salesforce Platform.
          Visualization
A visual representation of your data as a chart or graph. Visualizations are constructed from a DMO or semantic model to explore or analyze data. You can combine visualizations from the same workspace on a dashboard.
          Viz
          Short for a visualization.
          Workspace
A collaborative environment in Tableau Next for analysts to create and organize analytic assets to answer questions about their data. Assets must be created in a workspace and can be reused across multiple workspaces.
