Campaigns and Promotions in B2C Commerce
In the Business Manager Online Marketing module, you can create campaigns and A/B tests that act as wrappers, containing experiences that include promotions, content slots, and sorting rules. Slot configurations and sorting rules, however, don't need to be assigned to campaigns or A/B tests to take effect. Slot configurations can be scheduled outside the context of an A/B test. A default sorting rule can be set for a category in a storefront catalog outside the context of a campaign or A/B test. This topic applies to B2C Commerce.
Use campaigns to define a schedule for multiple experiences and to define qualifiers, such as coupons, for multiple promotions or sorting rules. When an experience is assigned to a campaign, its schedule and qualifiers can only refine those of the containing campaign. A campaign is defined in the context of a site and isn’t shared among sites. A campaign can be enabled or disabled. A disabled campaign is inactive and not available to consumers. Enabled promotions contained within a disabled campaign are also inactive. You can extend campaigns with custom attributes to meet your specific business requirements.
A promotion contains a rule that defines the type of promotion, conditions, and discounts, and can be extended with custom attributes to support your business requirements. If you delete a product, category, or shipping method that is associated with a promotion, that promotion (and its rule) isn't deleted.
In B2C Commerce, there are three promotion classes, or ways to define a promotion discount, product, order, and shipping.
B2C Commerce processes promotions in a specific priority order at specific times during the order process. Available promotions analytics and reports include processing reports, conversion reports, and system logs.
You can also customize promotions using B2C Commerce development tools.
