Sorting Rules for B2C Commerce
Use B2C Commerce sorting rules to control the order in which search results appear to help your customers quickly find the products they’re interested in.
There are several ways to use sorting rules on a site:
- Sorting for keyword searches: Applied to customer searches that use the keyword search box.
- Category sorting rules: Used to sort products in searches refined by a category. Category sorting rules are only available for navigation categories. Categories assigned to more than one site can have a different default sorting rule for the navigation catalog of each site.
- Storefront sorting options: Selected by customers to sort search results already returned by a category or keyword search. Any storefront sorting options that you configure appear in the Sort By dropdown list at the top of search results. All storefront sorting options are available site-wide.
- Dynamic attributes: Create dynamic attributes that combine different attributes with a specific weighting. You can also specify the default value for stale or undefined data.
- Keyword groups: Used to define extra sorting rules based on customer search terms.
Use sorting rules alone, in a campaign, or in an A/B test. Set a default sorting rule for a category in a storefront catalog, outside the context of a campaign or A/B test. Use sorting rules in a campaign to make sure that product search results appear in the order you specify as part of the campaign. Configure an A/B test segment that defines sorting rules that only apply to a segment of visitors.
Before you begin, it's important to understand how sorting rules work.
