A strategic management of product listings in B2B ensures that shoppers
see the most relevant products first. Use boost and bury rules to align your search results and
category pages with your business goals, like stock management, new product promotions, or selling
high-value products.
If multiple rules include the same product, the most recent rule takes precedence.
Avoid creating conflicting rules. For example, don’t create a boost rule and a bury rule for
the same product and category.
General updates to product categories don’t automatically update boost or bury rules. Update
the rules if a product category change no longer aligns with the rule conditions.
If Semantic Search is enabled, there is no guarantee
that products will show up in the same positions in search results, though results will be
broadly accurate.
In the navigation sidebar, select a store from the Store dropdown.
Select Merchandising | Rules.
Click New.
In the New Rule window, select the type of boost or bury rule you want to create.

store. Limit to 25 storewide rules.

Limit to 50 category rules.

Assign a start and end date.
Enter a locale. Keyword type rules are locale specific. If your store supports multiple
locales, create a rule for each required locale. If the same rule needs to be applied for all
locales, use the All Locales option.
Use the slider to select the boost or bury score.
Assign single products. Don’t add product sets, bundles, or product variation parent or
child products. There's a maximum of 100 products per rule.
