Before activating your B2B Commerce store, update your search index to enable shoppers
to see products on your search and category pages. Also update the search index after you make
changes to your store configuration or product catalog. If you only modify price books or price
book entries, you don’t need to update the index unless you have a sort rule based on price. You
can manually update your index or turn on automatic updates.
When updating the search index, keep these considerations in mind.
The search index includes only variation child products and simple products. Variation
parent products aren’t included when you update the index and are only used as decoration.
When you enable Show parent product only in the Product Variation
Display Settings, the search results are decorated with the variation parent although the
match is on the variation child product.
Products without entitlement policies are included in the index but aren’t
searchable.
Products with more than 2,000 buyer groups are excluded from the index.
When both Displayable Fields and Show Parent Product
Only are enabled, search returns only the best-matched product, which can be
either the parent product or a child product, depending on which one best matches the user’s
query.
Update your search index whenever you change or remove these items.
