Create a Digital Subscription Product in a Commerce Store

Create a Digital Subscription Product in a Commerce Store

You can create an evergreen (non-expiring) subscription or a term-defined (expiring) subscription for digital products. To create a subscriptions product for a B2B store, you first need to create a proration policy and a subscription product selling model. Then you can add the policy and product selling model to an existing or a new product that you want to sell as a subscription.

Which Salesforce Commerce Product Do I Have?

This task assumes that you’ve enabled Salesforce Pricing for B2B Stores and Subscriptions for your org, and configured your price book and product pages to support subscriptions. See Enable Salesforce Pricing and Subscriptions in Your B2B Store and Configure Commerce Pages to Support Subscriptions.

          1. Create a proration policy.
A proration policy defines how to handle a subscription price that can’t be equally divided across a pay period. You can add the remaining balance to the beginning or end of the subscription payment. For example, for a 4-month subscription term that costs $107.55, a shopper can pay $26.85 for 3 months and $27.00 for the first or last month.
            1. From App Launcher, find and select Proration Policies.
            2. Click New, and enter a name for the proration policy.
            3. For Remainder Strategy, select whether you want to add the remaining amount to the first or last subscription payment.
            4. For Proration Policy type, select Standard Time Periods.

A customer can’t start the subscription in the middle of a term, so don’t select Allow partial proration periods.

            5. Save your changes.
          2. Create a subscription product selling model.
            1. In the navigation sidebar, select a store from the Store dropdown.

To make the model easy to identify, include the subscription type and pricing term in the name. For example, Evergreen Monthly or Term-Defined Yearly.

            4. For Selling Model Type, select either Term-Defined or Evergreen.
            5. For Pricing Term Unit, specify how often the customer should be billed for their susbcriptions and enter 1 for the pricing term.
