Locations and Location Groups
Omnichannel Inventory aggregates inventory availability information across locations and location groups. Use the Omnichannel Inventory Console to add, edit, and delete locations, location groups, and location group assignments. Search, sort, and filter data in the list views, or customize the list views to show only the records or data that you want.
Access the location list views from the navigation bar in the Omnichannel Inventory app or from the Location Management tab in the console.
- Locations: Represent physical locations—distribution centers, warehouses, or retail stores—where you have inventory available for fulfilling orders. View location details and location group assignments for the location. Assign a location to one or more location groups based on your fulfillment process.
- Location groups: Represent sets of related locations. A location group provides an aggregate view of inventory availability across multiple locations in the group. View location group details and a list of locations assigned to the group.
- Location group assignments: Represent the relationships between your locations and your location groups.
By providing inventory availability at the aggregate level across multiple locations and at the individual location level, you can segment and activate inventory within the storefronts of your choice.
- Add Locations and Location Groups
Use the Omnichannel Inventory app to add locations, location groups, and location group assignments in this order. - Manage Locations
Locations represent physical locations—distribution centers, warehouses, or retail stores—where you have inventory available for fulfilling orders. Manage them using the Omnichannel Inventory Console. - Manage Location Groups
Location groups represent sets of related locations. Assign locations to a location group. A location group provides an aggregate view of inventory availability across the locations in the group. Manage them using the Omnichannel Inventory Console. - Shared Group Reservations
When an order is placed, Omnichannel Inventory reserves inventory to fill that order. Because a reservation can be held at a location group, the system considers that one or more of the group’s member locations can also be a member of another location group. Before the reservation is routed to an individual location, the system first attempts to allocate a location group reservation to individual locations that aren’t shared. - View Commit Status
Async Operation logs store information about each batch of changes that you commit to the Omnichannel Inventory service. Use the logs in the Omnichannel Inventory Console to view details about committed changes and to troubleshoot issues with failed commits.
