          Reservation Tracking in Omnichannel Inventory

          Reservation Tracking in Omnichannel Inventory

Reservation tracking simplifies the process of monitoring all reservation-related activities, from the moment that inventory is placed in a cart through fulfillment or cancellation. Each reservation has a unique ID that’s used to track actions associated with the reservation as it progresses through the fulfillment process.

Reservation tracking provides more visibility for merchants and enhances research and troubleshooting efforts across the fulfillment lifecycle. Omnichannel Inventory, Salesforce Order Management, and third-party platforms use the reservation ID to monitor changes to reservations and to reconcile orders. You can add the reservation ID to endpoint calls for transfer, fulfillment, and cancellation calls to Omnichannel Inventory.

Multiple reservation IDs per order aren’t supported. For example, you can’t use reservation tracking with order on behalf of, even exchanges, reshipping, and adding items.

To use this feature, customize the Salesforce Order Management fulfillment flows with the Reservation ID field.

          • Omnichannel Inventory Reservation Lifecycle
When an item is added to a cart, an inventory reservation is created and assigned an ID. All subsequent actions for the reservation, such as cancel, unreserve, transfer, and fulfill, generate events that are grouped under the reservation ID. You can review which reservations have completed their lifecycle and which haven’t.
          • Reservation Tracking with B2C Commerce and Salesforce Order Management
To provide an end-to-end ecommerce experience for shoppers and use reservation tracking, integrate Omnichannel Inventory with both B2C Commerce and Salesforce Order Management. You can also integrate with B2C Commerce and other third-party management applications.
          • Modify Order Management Flows to Include Reservation Tracking
The Salesforce Omnichannel Inventory flows perform routing, cancellation, and fulfillment, which are all transactions available in the reservation lifecycle after a reservation has been created. Add the reservation ID to each flow as needed.
