Delivery Estimations for Order Management Overview
Provide customers with accurate delivery times by showing delivery dates on your store’s product detail and checkout pages.
Delivery Estimations work with B2C Commerce only. To use Delivery Estimations, you need an Order Management Growth license and the Omnichannel Inventory license.
Order Management supports Canadian Post, FedEx, Royal Mail, UPS, and USPS as managed shipping carriers, which get shipping information directly from the carrier. This direct shipping information is available only in the USA, UK, and Canada. For other shipping carriers and countries, Order Management uses manually entered, static shipping times.
Order Management gathers shipping data through one of two methods. It can use the static delivery data that is entered directly into your org during setup or it can use standard routing. Standard routing uses live data sent from supported shipping carriers. When processing data through standard routing, Order Management uses approximate postal or ZIP codes. A single postal code is used to represent itself and all adjacent codes. This ensures accurate estimations while maintaining acceptable processing speeds.
- Delivery Estimation Prerequisites
After you install, configure, and turn on both Order Management and Omnichannel Inventory, there are a few prerequisites for Delivery Estimations. - Set Up a Delivery Estimation
A delivery estimation contains information about a store and sales channel, including hours, processing times, and whether it supports Buy Online Pickup In Store (BOPIS). The delivery estimation sets processing and store hour information for an entire location group. You can change this information for individual locations on the Location Assignment tab. - Enable Buy Online Pick Up in Store (BOPIS)
The Buy Online Pick up In Store (BOPIS) feature increases flexibility and gives shoppers an option to get orders sooner. - Connect the Delivery Estimation Service to B2C Commerce
Create a B2C Commerce connection with Order Management so that the B2C instance can communicate with the Commerce Delivery Service. - Configure Delivery Estimation for a B2C Store
Connect the Commerce Delivery Service to your B2C store and implement the delivery estimation service for checkout. Use this section as a guideline only. Your configuration may differ. - Enable and Sync a Delivery Estimation
After you’ve configured estimations and shipping, and you’ve connected Commerce Delivery Services to B2C Commerce as necessary, enable your delivery estimation.
