Manage Tax During Checkout in the POS app
Store associates can use clear and flexible tools to handle tax during checkout, including tax indicators, breakdowns, exemptions, and overrides. This ensures accuracy and enhances customer service, providing a transparent and efficient shopping experience.
Tax Indicator
When the tax indicator is turned on, the store associate sees "T" next to the line item that has tax.
Tax Breakdown
When the tax breakdown is turned on, store associates see a breakdown of tax during checkout.
Tax Exemption
When tax exemption is enabled, store associates see the tax exemption option when they touch the pencil icon next to each line item. This tax exemption for each product is for all the different sizes, colors, and other things. This tax exemption is for all registers and lasts for the whole business day. On touching tax override, an associate will be shown a confirmation of tax-exempt status.
Tax Override
When tax override is enabled, store associates will see the tax override option under advanced interstitial in the checkout page. This is storewide tax override across all registers effective for the entire business day in case of online mode. In offline mode, the modified tax rate will be effective only for the particular register for the entire business day. To keep all registers equal, tax overrides won't work in both online and offline modes. For example, if a tax override is applied while a register is offline, the same override won't work for future transactions across the store when that register is online again. If the overwritten value will be removed in case the application is uninstalled.
Store associates will be able to specify the new store-wide tax rate
The overridden tax will be shown at the bottom of the cart.
Hide Tax
If taxes aren't applicable, tax fields can be hidden using the mobile config settings in CMS. In that case, store associates won't see tax details on the checkout page.
