Returns & Exchanges in Point of Sale
Shoppers can return and exchange products in the POS app. Exchanges are defined by any return transaction that also includes a sale.
Prerequisites
- Modern POS App Build: 5.1.0 or above
- Platform Support: iPhone & iPad
- Integration Prerequisites: Configured Return Policy on CMS
- Offline Support: 5.12.2 or above
Known Issues & Restrictions
- Adyen terminals are needed for credit card refunds offline.
- Refund fees aren’t supported offline.
- Not-on-file products can't be returned offline.
- You can’t return an order that hasn't synced with the backend yet.
- You can’t apply the order's tax-exempt in offline return. The exempted amount can be applied as a part of the product price override.

Configure Adyen and CMS settings so store associates can process returns in the Retail Cloud POS app. To avoid multiple refunds for the same customer, set a delay of 10 minutes for unreferenced refunds in your Adyen merchant account, and allow offline credit card refunds.
