Filter the Segment and Publish to Marketing Cloud Engagement

Filter the Segment and Publish to Marketing Cloud Engagement

After you create a segment, you can narrow the audience by adding filters. For this use case, you filter by consent status and whether the person has provided their phone number.

          1. In Data 360, on the Segments tab, select the Terms of Service Changes - CA segment.
          2. In the Activations section of the segment record, click New.
          3. Select a Marketing Cloud Engagement activation target, which is the destination of the segment data.
            1. For the activation membership, select Individual.
            2. Click Continue.
          4. Click + Select for Phone (SMS) as the contact point (channel).
            1. Confirm the phone path and source priority order, and then click Next.
          5. To determine which contact points are chosen for a member, under Contact Points, click Add Filters.
          6. To manage consent, go to the Contact Point Consent DMO (L3).
            1. Drag the Data Use Purpose attribute to the segment canvas, select the Is Equal To operator, and enter the value Services.
            2. Drag the Consent Status attribute to the segment canvas, select the Is Equal To operator, and enter the value Opt In.
            3. Click Done.
          7. Go to the Communication Subscription Consent DMO (L4).
            1. Drag the Communication Subscription attribute, select the Is Equal To operator, and enter the value Terms of Service.
            2. Drag the Consent Status attribute, select the Is Equal To operator, and enter the value Opt In.
            3. Confirm the attributes have an AND operator, and click Done.
          8. Confirm the AND operator for the two DMOs.
          9. Click Save.
          10. Under Contact Point, the value is 1 for Max. # of Attribute Values because only one value is sent for each contact point channel. For Sort By, select the Last Modified Date attribute and the Descending operator to organize your data.
          11. The campaign has placeholders for personalization to include the customer’s first name and last name. To make sure this information gets sent to Marketing Cloud Engagement, add attributes to the activation.
            1. At the top of the screen, click Add Attributes.
            2. In addition to Individual Id, from the direct attribute list, select First Name and Last Name and drag it to the canvas.
            3. Confirm the path is correct, and then click Save.
            4. Click Next.
          12. Name the activation Terms of Service Changes - CA, and add a description.
            1. Select Incremental Refresh.
            2. Click Save.

The activation is sent to Marketing Cloud Engagement.
