          Classification Tags in Data 360

Classifications provide additional context and meaning within a taxonomy. They allow you to categorize data based on predefined criteria such as sensitivity or intended use, making it easier to manage, protect, and use data appropriately.

For example, you can classify healthcare data subject to HIPAA regulations as PII Sensitive to indicate its need for special handling. Classifiers can also group tags that require common policy actions. This approach allows you to apply policies consistently across all objects that share the same classification. For instance, if you define a masking policy for data classified as Sensitive, you need to set up the policy only one time. As new data objects are created, simply assigning them the Sensitive classification (when appropriate) automatically enforces the policy without the need to recreate or modify it.
