Connect Salesforce Data to Data 360

Data drives Data 360 functionality. In Data 360, you can connect to many data sources. To get started with standard connections, connect Data 360 to a Salesforce CRM org and install standard data bundles. Then, ingest and further map and refine your data.

          Task 1: Install Data Bundles

After connecting Data 360 to a Salesforce CRM org, the Data Cloud Architect can install standard (sometimes called starter) data bundles to quickly deploy data within Data 360. A data bundle maps Salesforce objects to the Data 360 data model object (DMO) structure. You can also customize a bundle.

          1. From Setup, select Data Cloud Setup.
          2. Under Salesforce Integrations, select Salesforce CRM.
          3. Under Standard Data Bundles, click the dropdown arrow for either Sales Cloud or Service Cloud and click Install.
          4. In the data kit install window, select Install for Admins Only and click Install.
          5. When the installation completes, click Done.

Task 2: Create a Salesforce CRM Data Stream

Now that the data kit is installed, you can create a data stream to flow data from a Salesforce CRM source.

Create a Salesforce CRM Data Stream in Data 360 (Data Cloud Architect permission set—Under 5 minutes).

          Task 3: Map Data

During data ingestion, data is brought in as is—fields and their data types are imported without transformation. In the previous task, you created a Salesforce CRM data stream to bring data into Data 360. Data ingested by all data streams is written to data lake objects (DLOs). A data bundle maps standard fields, but sometimes you must manually create and map required fields for identity resolution, such as the phone number field. This field matches two or more accounts or individuals that have the same name and phone number. The Data Cloud Architect completes these steps.

          1. In Data Cloud, on the Data Streams tab, select the Contact data stream.
          2. In the Data Mapping section, click Review.
The data lake objects (DLOs) and the object that you selected are listed on one side of the screen. The searchable data model objects (DMOs) are listed on the other side.
          3. Under Data Lake Objects, click the Business Phone field.
          4. Under Data Model entities, use the search box to find the Formatted E164 Phone Number field in the Contact Point Phone object. To expand the section, click Unmapped.
          5. Click the Formatted E164 Phone Number field to map it to Business Phone on the left.
A solid line connects the two fields.
          6. Click Save.
Continue these steps based on your business use case and any other required fields.
            Note
Note View a data stream’s status from the Data Stream tab. If you don’t see a status, click the dropdown and select Refresh Now.

You have now connected Data 360 to your Salesforce CRM org, installed a standard bundle, and ingested and mapped your data. With this ingested data, you can drive personalization and engagement and unlock insights across Salesforce Customer 360 applications and beyond.
