Create and Install Your Managed Package for Data Cloud

Create and Install Your Managed Package for Data Cloud

Use a managed package to build a Data 360 app and distribute it on AppExchange. Packaging is the container that you fill with metadata, and it holds the set of related features, customizations, and schema that make up your app. A package can include many different metadata components, and you can package a single component, an app, or library.

          Required Editions

Available in: All Editions supported by Data 360. See Data 360 edition availability.
          User Permission Set Needed
To create packages: Create AppExchange Packages permission
To upload packages: Upload AppExchange Packages permission
To create a data kit: Data Cloud Architect permission set

You need a Salesforce developer edition org to create the package and a subscriber org to install it. Salesforce offers second-generation managed packaging (managed 2GP) and first-generation managed packaging (managed 1GP). This topic describes how to create a managed 1GP package. For details on packaging Data 360 in managed 2GP packages, see Workflow for Data Cloud Second-Generation Managed Packages.

          1. In Data Cloud, go to Setup, and create a package with the Package Manager. See Create and Upload a First-Generation Managed Package.
          2. Define a unique namespace for the managed package.
          3. To add the necessary components, in Components, click Add.
          4. For the Component Type, select Data Package Kit Definition.
          5. Create a standard data kit or select an existing data kit, and click Add to Package.
All entities related to data kit metadata are added to the package automatically.
          6. Add the package version details.
          7. To generate your package installation URL, click Upload.
          8. Copy the install URL, go to your target org, and use the package install URL to install the package.

Installing a package requires admin user permissions.

After installing the package in the target org, your data kit is now available to deploy data streams and other components in Data 360.
