Data Action Targets in Data 360

Data Action Targets in Data 360

The result of a data action is triggered in a data action target. The target receives the data action in near real time. You can send a data action to a target to drive event-based orchestration.

          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience

          The supported targets are:

          • Salesforce Platform Event—Send a data action to the core event bus to build a flow application based on near real-time insights generated in Data 360.
          • Webhook—Send a data action to a webhook target, and protect the message integrity with a Salesforce-generated secret key. A webhook is a type of API that is event driven rather than request driven.
          • Marketing Cloud Engagement—Manage event and insight driven scenarios with Engagement messaging and journey capabilities.

Data action targets created by an integration user, such as a Copy Fields enrichment, Salesforce CRM enrichment, or Data Cloud-triggered flow using Flow Builder, are read only. You can’t delete, disable, or edit these targets.

          Examples

Here are a few examples of near real-time, event-driven use cases enabled by data actions.

          • Action-informed engagement

A customer purchases an item that’s complex to install and searches for “Installation Manual” on your website. You can send the customer an email with a how-to video or installation instructions.

          • Service and support

A customer visits multiple troubleshooting pages in a specific time window. You can automatically log a case for the customer.

          • Financial services

A customer purchases a product on your website worth over $1,000. You can trigger a customer journey event.

          • Account engagement

A customer selects several items and places them into their cart, but doesn’t purchase them. You can trigger a journey to urge the customer to complete the purchase.

          • Location-based engagement

A customer checks into a hotel. You can send the customer a journey with prompts to visit the hotel bar or check out luxury vacations and activities.

          • Create a Salesforce Platform Event Data Action Target
Send a data action to the core event bus to build a flow application based on a trigger generated in Data 360.
          • Create a Webhook Data Action Target
Send a data action event to a webhook target and protect the message integrity with a Salesforce-generated secret key. A webhook is a type of API that’s event driven rather than request driven. The secret key validates the payload requests sent from Salesforce. The webhook transports the HTTP payload with events in the format of DataObjectDataChgEvent.
          • Marketing Cloud Engagement Data Action Targets
Use data and insights to drive business metrics and reduce delay in interacting with customers with Journey Builder API events and transactional emails sent in Marketing Cloud Engagement. Automate and personalize transactions by combining Data 360 with Engagement. You can automate simple operational tasks with data-triggered email messages and journeys, maximize conversions, and minimize customer drop-off rates.
