Ingest and Map Data from Sales Cloud
In Data Cloud, you can connect to many data sources. Many of the Salesforce connectors have a starter data bundle to help you quickly set up a data streams, create data lake objects, and map to the data model automatically. However, you must map custom objects and some required fields to the Customer 360 Data Model to use Identity Resolution.
Create a Sales Cloud Data Stream
While many data sources can be connected to Data Cloud, in this use case we create a Sales data stream based on a bundle.
- In Data Cloud, go to the Data Streams tab and click New.
- Select the Salesforce CRM data source and click Next.
- To create your data stream, select a Salesforce org. If you have only one Salesforce org connected to Data Cloud, it’s selected by default.
- Select the Sales data bundle and click Next. The default data space is selected, and all the fields in the bundle are listed.
- Leave the selections as is, and click Next.
- Enter the deployment details and how often you want to refresh the data. Review the fields to include in your data stream and click Next.
- Click Deploy.
Your Sales Cloud data stream is now created.
Map Data Stream to DMO
During data ingestion, data is brought in as is—fields and their data types are imported without transformation. You create a data stream to bring in the data into Data Cloud. Data ingested by all data streams is written to data lake objects (DLOs) A data bundle maps standard fields, but for this use cases, you manually create and map the phone number field. This field is used in identity resolution to match two or more accounts or individuals that have the same name and phone number.
- In Data Cloud, on the Data Streams tab, select the Contact data stream.
- In the Data Mapping section, click Review. The data lake objects (DLOs) and the object that you selected are listed on one side of the screen. The searchable data model objects (DMOs) are listed on the other side.
- Under Data Lake Objects, click the Business Phone field.
- Under Data Model entities, use the search box to find the Formatted E164 Phone Number field in the Contact Point Phone object. You might need to click the Unmapped to expand the section.
- Click the Formatted E164 Phone Number field to map it to
Business Phone on the left. A solid line connects the two fields.
- Click Save.
- Repeat these steps for the Lead data stream.
- Map the Phone field on the Lead DLO to the Formatted E164 Phone Number field on the Contact Point Phone DMO.
- Click Save.
View a data stream’s status from the Data Stream tab. If you don’t see a status, click the dropdown and select Refresh Now.
