          Map Data Model Objects

          Map Data Model Objects

Data mapping relates Data Lake Object (DLO) fields to Data Model Object (DMO) fields, paving the way for unifying your source data into a single standardized Customer 360 data model.

          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience
          Note
          Note
          • You can map a DLO to one or more DMOs.
          • You can map only one DLO field to a DMO field. A single DMO field can't have more than one source DLO field
          • You can map a DLO field to more than one DMO field in the same DMO.
          Warning
Warning When a custom DMO has the same object API name as a standard DMO:
          • If the standard DMO has field mappings, you can still edit existing mappings. But if all mappings are deleted and you save the DMO, you can’t map any DLOs to this standard DMO.
          • If the standard DMO doesn’t have field mappings, you can’t map any DLOs to this standard DMO.
          1. Go to the Data Streams tab.
          2. Search for and click the data stream you want to map.
          3. Click Start Data Mapping.
          4. Click Select Objects.

The field-mapping canvas shows your source DLOs on the left and target DMOs on the right.

You can select an object from your data model or add a new custom object to your data model.

          5. Click New Custom Object in the Custom Data Model.
            1. Review Object Label, Object API Name, and Fields.
You can’t change the field properties after you save the object.
            2. Save your changes.
          6. Select the field to map in the DLO and click the related field in the DMO to establish mapping connection.
A confirmation appears with an arrow connecting the fields.
          7. If you don’t see a field in the DMO that represents the field in your source data, you can add a field to the DMO.
            1. Click the arrow next to unmapped fields.
            2. Click Add New Field.
            3. Enter a field label or display name.
The Field API Name is auto-completed with a suggestion based on the naming convention.
            4. Choose the field data type.
The field data type must be compatible with the data type of the source field. You can set up a mapping between fields only if they have compatible data types. For example, you can’t map a text field data type to a number field data type.
            5. Save your changes.
            Tip
Tip You can create a DMO from the Data Model tab.

And you can also create field mappings from the Data Lake Objects tab.

Make sure to indicate how a custom data object relates to other objects in the data model. View your custom DMO from the Data Model tab and create relationships between objects and fields as required.

          Note
Note When working with DMOs in custom data spaces, all available fields appear on the field mapping page. In the DMO record page, you can view these fields.
          • Mapped fields
          • Custom fields
          • Unmapped fields that were mapped initially
          • System fields such as Created Date and Source System
