Marketing Cloud Engagement Connector
Connect Marketing Cloud Engagement to Data 360 using a starter data bundle or data extension.
A starter data bundle imports system-defined or standard datasets from Marketing Cloud Engagement into Data 360. Because the schemas or blueprints for these datasets are already known to Data 360, the data lake objects (DLOs) are created and automatically mapped to data model objects (DMOs).
Data extensions are user-defined or customized datasets in Marketing Cloud Engagement. Data 360 offers suggestions on the schema, and you can then confirm the definition and map the DLO into the data model.
The process to initiate movement between Marketing Cloud Engagement and Data 360 is the same for a starter bundle and a data extension. The only difference is the manual work required when working with a data extension.
Data 360 ingests only 90 days of engagement data when creating Marketing Cloud Engagement data streams. Additionally, fields with NULL values are converted to empty strings.
- Set Up a Marketing Cloud Engagement Connection in Data 360
After you create your Data 360 instance, control the scope of data ingestion and activation from Marketing Cloud Engagement and other sources. Before integrating with Data 360, make sure that your Engagement user’s default business unit (BU) is set to the Enterprise ID (EID). Set up your data sources to tell Data 360 where to pull data from, also known as ingest, for data mapping and segments. You can connect multiple EIDs to a single Data 360 org, where each EID has its own connection to Data 360. For each of these connections, you can set up multiple data streams using data bundles or data extensions. Each connection also has its own business unit-to-data space mapping configuration. Data 360 supports only Engagement Enterprise 2.0 account connections. - Marketing Cloud Engagement Starter Data Bundles in Data 360
Marketing Cloud Engagement offers starter data bundles for Email Studio, MobileConnect, MobilePush, and WhatsApp. Data 360 doesn’t support formula fields for Marketing Cloud Engagement data streams. - Create Data Streams from a Marketing Cloud Engagement Starter Bundle
To begin the flow of data from a Marketing Cloud Engagement source to Data 360, create data streams from starter bundles. Data 360 only supports formula fields for the SFMC Enterprise Profile Attribute data stream. - Create a Data Stream from a Marketing Cloud Engagement Data Extension
Create a data stream in Data 360 to ingest data from a Marketing Cloud Engagement data extension. - Marketing Cloud Engagement Refresh Mode
When ingesting data into Data 360 from Marketing Cloud Engagement, the refresh mode is either upsert or full refresh. Each handles your data differently.
