Using Currencies in Data Cloud
Data Cloud uses the currencies and static exchange rates configured in your Salesforce CRM org and applies them to data transforms, calculated insights, segmentations, reports, and other processes.
In a single-currency organization, Data Cloud syncs its currency data from your Salesforce org using this process.
- After the Salesforce CRM connector to Data Cloud is automatically set up, Salesforce
creates a static rate data lake object (DLO) named
Static_Currency_Rates_<CRM orgID>and a static rate conversion data model object (DMO) namedStatic_Currency_Rates_<CRM orgID>for the currency data. If the CRM connector has an alias, then the alias replaces<CRM orgID>in the name. - The Salesforce CRM connector syncs active and inactive currencies and static conversion rates to the associated currencies connection in Data Cloud.
- When the Salesforce admin adds currencies or updates the conversion rate in a Salesforce CRM org, Data Cloud syncs these changes, and the static rate conversion DMO is updated within a few minutes.
In a multiple-currency organization, Data Cloud uses the same process to sync its currency
data from each connected Salesforce org and follows a similar naming convention for the DLO
and DMOs it creates. In addition to the DLO and DMOs, Salesforce creates a data stream named
Static_CurrencyType_<CRM orgID>. Each CRM org manages its own currencies
and conversion rates.
- If an org context is present for the Data Cloud query, Data Cloud uses the conversion rate
from the org. For example, Data Cloud applies the currency conversion rates from a logged-in
user’s org when:
- The user’s actions trigger queries on Data Explorer or Data Cloud reports
- The user executes SQL or SOQL queries using an API
- If an org context isn’t present for the Data Cloud query, Data Cloud applies the default conversion rates. Examples include background and service processes such as data pipelines running data transforms, segmentation, and activation.
- Data Cloud applies these conversion rates.
Data Cloud Process Org Used for Conversion Rate Data transforms, data actions, insights, segmentation, and activation Default CRM org. The first CRM org connected to Data Cloud is the default org unless the admin changes it. Data Cloud query services User’s logged-in org. A user can override these rates using SQL statements. SOQL queries on Data Cloud objects User’s logged-in org. A user can’t override these rates using SOQL statements.
- Considerations for Using Multiple Currencies in Data Cloud
Keep these considerations in mind when using multiple currencies in Data Cloud. - Billing Considerations for Multi-Currency Usage
Using multiple currencies in Data Cloud impacts the consumption of credits used for orgs operating Data Cloud under a Data Cloud license. Credits are consumed for setting up currencies and maintaining them over time. - Review Currencies Connection Status in Data Cloud
If your Data Cloud org uses multiple currencies from your Salesforce CRM org, you can review the associated connection’s status. - Disable a Currency Connection in Data Cloud
While we recommend keeping the currency connection in Data Cloud enabled, if you plan to disconnect a standard Salesforce CRM connection from Data Cloud, disable the currency connection to Data Cloud first.
