          Private Connect for Data 360

          Private Connect for Data 360

Private Connect uses AWS PrivateLink to establish a point-to-point network integration between your AWS VPC and your Data 360 tenant. Private Connect provides a connection from Data 360 to your data source without exposing your network traffic to the public internet.

Private Connect for Data 360 is specifically designed to connect Data 360 to a data source. Private Connect for Data 360 is different from Salesforce Private Connect, which is used to connect a Salesforce org to a data source.

Currently, Private Connect for Data 360 supports Snowflake and Redshift through a network connection. Using Private Connect, you can use both federation and data share with Snowflake in an AWS VPC. If you're using Redshift, you can bring data into Data 360 using a federation connection. However, Private Connect for Data 360 isn't required to share data from Data 360 to Redshift.

To access a data source, you need a VPC endpoint service. Your data source vendor can provide this service for you, or you can create and manage your own endpoint service.

After your endpoint is set up, you create a Data 360 private network route. Each private network route has its own unique VPC endpoint. Data 360 manages the VPC endpoint, and your cloud provider manages the VPC endpoint service.

For Snowflake, Data 360 has a global limit of one private network route for each instance. You can use the one private network route towards a sandbox or production environment. However, you can have as many Snowflake connections as you want and you can reuse the same private network route for all of them within a single environment.

Private Connect for Data 360 allows you to connect to third-party systems. However, the implementation and management of these third-party systems aren't maintained by Salesforce.

          • Private Connect Considerations
Private Connect for Data 360 establishes a secure connection between Virtual Private Clouds (VPC), bypassing the public internet and enhancing security.
          • Add a Private Network Route for Snowflake on Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Connect your Snowflake data source and Data 360 tenant with a dedicated network connection by using Private Connect for Data 360. Create a single connection to a specific instance, even if you have multiple Data 360 instances. Before you set up a Snowflake federation connection or data share, create a Private Network Route (PNR).
          • Add a Private Network Route for Redshift
To enable federation connections, connect your Redshift data source and your Data Cloud tenant with a dedicated network route using Private Connect for Data Cloud. Private Connect supports self-managed PrivateLink. Redshift-managed PrivateLink isn't currently supported.
          • Add a Private Network Route for Amazon MSK
Connect your Amazon MSK data source and your Data Cloud tenant with a dedicated network connection using Private Connect for Data Cloud. You can create a single connection to a specific instance regardless of how many Data Cloud instances you have. Before setting up a connection for Amazon MSK, you must establish a private network route.
          • Add a Private Network Route for Snowflake on Azure
Connect your Snowflake instance and Data 360 tenant to a dedicated network route with Private Connect for Data 360. Create a single route to a specific instance even if you have multiple Data 360 instances. Before you set up a Snowflake federation connection or data share, establish a Private Network Route (PNR).
          • Add a Private Network Route for Databricks on Azure
Connect your Databricks data source and Data 360 tenant with a dedicated network connection using Private Connect for Data 360. Create a single connection to a specific instance regardless of how many Data 360 instances you have. Before you set up a Databricks federation connection or data share, establish a network route.
          • Set Up a Snowflake Federation Connection for Private Connect
Set up a connection between Snowflake and Private Connect for Data Cloud to access the data.
          • Set Up a Redshift Federation Connection for Private Connect
Set up a connection between Redshift and Private Connect for Data Cloud to access the data.
          • Delete a Private Connect Network Route
You can delete a private network route that isn’t used in a data stream.
