Connect Tableau in Data 360
Set up a connection to Data 360 from Tableau. Different steps are required depending on which Tableau product and version you use.
Data 360 was previously called Data Cloud and Customer Data Platform (CDP). The Customer Data Platform connector was deprecated in October 2023 and is no longer available. Existing assets that use the CDP connector must be recreated using the Salesforce Data Cloud connector.
You can connect to these Tableau products from Data 360 using the Salesforce Data Cloud connector.
- Tableau Server helps to organize and share Tableau dashboards and workbooks. Using the Salesforce Data Cloud connector requires Tableau Server version 2023.3. Starting with version 2024.2, the Customer Data Platform connector is no longer available in the user interface. See Connect Tableau Server to the Data 360.
- Tableau Desktop is a visualization tool that turns your customer data into interactive visual representations like dashboards and workbooks. Using the Salesforce Data Cloud connector requires Tableau Desktop version 2023.2 or later. Starting with version 2024.1, the Customer Data Platform connector is hidden in the user interface, and is removed entirely from Tableau Desktop 2024.3 and later. See Connect Tableau Desktop to the Data 360.
- Tableau Prep cleans and shapes customer data to optimize analysis. Using the Salesforce Data Cloud connector requires Prep Web Authoring, Conductor version 2023.2, or Prep Builder 2023.2. See Connect to the Data 360.
- Tableau Cloud is used for authoring, sharing, distributing, and collaborating on content. The Salesforce Data Cloud connector was released for Tableau Cloud in October 2023. Starting in June 2024, the Customer Data Platform connector is no longer available in the user interface. See Connect Tableau Cloud to the Data 360.
