You are here:
Source, Object Name, and Object API Name
When ingesting a data set into Data 360, you must name the data set source.
The source corresponds to the technology-based tool that marketers use to execute marketing activities. These tools can include traditional software, social media tools, CRM, ecommerce, measurement, insight, customer service, SEO, and analytics. You can reuse a source definition as appropriate for each data set that you import.
You’re also prompted to name the object and the associated object API. This is similar to naming the data set associated with that source. In Data 360, this pair is referred to as the data lake object (DLO).
Object names must be unique and adhere to these guidelines:
- They can only contain underscores and alphanumeric characters.
- They must begin with a letter.
- They can't include spaces, end with an underscore, or contain two consecutive underscores.
For example, an ecommerce tool has two data sets: one contains order headers and the other order details. You can use the same source name across both data sets, but each object name and API name must be unique.
