Viewing Data Relationships with Unified Lineage

Unified lineage gives you a complete view of how your data objects are connected. Use it to understand data journeys, dependencies, and the downstream impact of changes such as applying tags or updating objects

          Required Editions

Available in: All Editions supported by Data 360. See Data 360 edition availability.

Unified lineage is a visual relationship graph that shows how your data objects are connected. It provides visibility into how data moves across sources, transformations, and activations so you can trace dependencies, audit governance, and assess impact before making changes.

Unified lineage is automatically available in all customer orgs and no setup is required. When enabled, a background job collects lineage for all existing objects. Subsequent updates are captured incrementally as new objects are created or modified.

          Supported Object Types

          Object-level lineage is available for:

          • Data streams and their connection info
          • Data lake objects and unstructured data lake objects
          • Data transforms
          • Data model objects and unstructured data model objects
          • Calculated Insights
          • Segments
          • Activations
          • Identity Resolutions
          • Semantic Data Models
          • Data Graphs
          • Data Shares

Field-level lineage is available for a subset of these objects:

          • Data Lake Objects
          • Data Transforms
          • Data Model Objects
          • Calculated Insights
          • Segments
          • Activations
          • Data Graphs
          • Identity Resolutions
          • Data Shares
          • Data Lineage Best Practices
Applying these best practices helps maintain consistent data visibility and governance alignment across your organization.
          • Use Unified Lineage
Explore and interact with the lineage graph to view how your data objects connect. Search for objects, trace upstream and downstream dependencies, and use side-panel details, field-level views, and tag overlays to understand your data flow and governance context.
          • Unified Lineage Limitations
Unified lineage has the following limitations.
