          Upload Files

          Upload Files

Upload files to Files home, feeds, and records.

          Required Editions

Available in: Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience
Available in: Group, Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, , Performance, Unlimited, Developer, and Contact Manager Editions

          You can upload files to:

          • Files home
          • Any Chatter feed post or comment field
          • The files card or list on groups, user profiles, opportunities, and other records

          Files Home

When you upload files on Files home, they’re private (visible only to you) until you share them. Only file owners and users with the View All Data permission can see private files.

You can use the Owned by Me filter to view the files you own.

To upload files to a library, select the library and then click Add Files. Files you upload to a library inherit the sharing settings of that library.

You can also add files to Salesforce by:

          • Attaching a file to a Chatter post.
          • Uploading files to Salesforce CRM Content private and shared libraries.

All file types are supported, including everything from Microsoft® PowerPoint presentations and Excel spreadsheets, to Adobe® PDFs and image files. You can upload and download audio and video files, but you can’t parse or preview them.

          Note
Note Files without a file extension or with an unrecognized file extension show “unknown” in the Type column.

By default, you can upload files up to 10 GB. However, the maximum file size that you can upload is determined by your organization. In Chatter, Experience Cloud LWR sites, and Salesforce Classic, the size limit for uploading a file is 2 GB.

          Note
Note Salesforce doesn't remove geolocation information from uploaded images.
