Join or Leave Chatter Groups

Join Chatter groups to collaborate with other people on projects or common areas of interest. Share project-related files and information with the group. Leave the groups that are no longer relevant to you.

Required Editions

Available in: both Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience
Available in: Essentials, Group, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, Contact Manager, and Developer Editions
  1. Go to the group’s detail page.
  2. To join a public group, click Join or Join Group. To join a private group, click Ask to Join. Your request is sent to the private group’s owner and managers, who accept or decline your request.

You can join up to 300 groups and your org can have up to 30,000 groups. Archived groups count toward your org’s group limits (30,000) but not toward a user’s group membership limits (300).

To leave a group that you joined or to withdraw your request to join a private group, go to the group detail page and click blue X button or Leave Group. If you don’t see these options, ask your Salesforce admin to adjust the page layout.
