- Provider Search in existing customer orgs with Health Cloud versions before Winter ‘23 is called Legacy Provider Search. Provider Search and Criteria-Based Search and Filter
Decide which Provider Search features best match your requirements. For example, Provider Search with Criteria-Based Search and Filter gives you the flexibility to configure search result filters and the search result display, but it doesn’t support bed searches. In the same org, you can use Provider Search for some use cases and Provider Search with Criteria-Based Search and Filter for others.

Legacy Provider Search
Review these important considerations:
- Standard Provider Search Data Sync shows as “Disabled” on the Provider Search Settings page for existing customers.
- Legacy Provider Search remains active for existing customers until Standard Provider Search Data Sync is enabled.
- Legacy Provider Search matches search terms to values in multiple fields. For example, a search for Diabetes in the Specialty field returns providers with Diabetes in the Specialty field as well as providers with Diabetes in a custom field. Starting in Summer ‘24, you can match values in the specified text or text area field, as opposed to matching values in any field. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Provider Search, and then select Provider Search Settings. On the Getting Started tab, enable Provider Search Precise Matching. With Provider Search Precise Matching enabled, a search for Diabetes in the Specialty field returns only the providers with Diabetes in the Specialty field. The Provider Search Precise Matching setting doesn’t apply to searches run in the Criteria-Based Search and Filter component.
- Legacy Provider Search uses a Sync Job that runs every 6 hours. On-demand data synchronization is available only in sandbox orgs.
- Legacy Provider Search uses the same data model as Provider Search and Provider Search with Criteria-Based Search and Filter.
- You can continue to add custom fields to the Healthcare Provider and Healthcare Practitioner Facility objects and sync them to the Provider Search Searchable Field object.
- Legacy Provider Search isn’t available in Life Sciences Cloud.
