Build Your Expression Set From a Template

To reuse or modify an expression set template’s components, save the template as an expression set or a version of an expression set. The template’s type determines whether you can save it as a new expression set or a version of an existing expression set.

Build Your Expression Set from a Read-Only Template

You can’t directly use a read-only expression set template because the template is inactive. To activate the template for reuse or to modify the template, save the template as an expression set.

          1. From the App Launcher (App explorer icon.), find and select Business Rules Engine.

          3. Open the read-only expression set template that you want to use.

          4. Click Save As.
The Save As operation creates an expression set. The expression set’s first version is also created by default and opens in a new browser tab. The version inherits the template’s components, such as resources and steps.

To call the expression set from flows or use it as a subexpression, give the version a rank, and activate the version.

Build Your Expression Set or Version From an Executable Template

An executable template is active, so you can use it as-is in flows or as subexpressions. But you can’t make changes or additions to an executable template. To reuse a template’s components and then build on top of them, or to modify the components, save the template as an expression set or a version of an expression set.

          1. From the App Launcher (App explorer icon.), find and select Business Rules Engine.
          2. From the app navigation menu, select Expression Set Templates.
          3. Open the executable expression set template that you want to use.

Executable templates have the Ready_to_Use prefix (1) in their names, and have the Executable checkbox selected (2).

How to identify an executable template
          4. Click Save As.
          5. Select how you want to save the template.
Expression Set Saves the template as an expression set.
Expression Set Version Saves the template as a version of the expression set that you select.
          6. Save your changes.
Depending upon your selection, a version of the newly created or the selected expression set opens in a new browser tab.
