          Create a Data Type

          Define data type and the data type options that sales reps can choose as the answer for a question during a visit.

          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience

          Available in: Enterprise and Unlimited Editions where Consumer Goods Cloud is enabled

          User Permissions Needed
          To create data type and data type options:

          CGCloud Business Admin

          OR

          CGCloud Retail Business Admin

          1. From the App Launcher, find and select Data Types.
          2. On the Data Types detail page, click New.
          3. To specify your answer’s format, select a data type:
            • Toggle (for picklist)
            • Date
            • Decimal
            • String
          4. Provide these details.

            Some of the fields appear based on the selected data type.

            Field Description Data Type
            Data Type Name Unique name of the data type. Use the prefix Dom when specifying the name of a data type. For example, DomCompetitorFridge. Toggle, Date, Decimal, String
            Sales Org Describes the sales organization to which the data type belongs. Toggle, Date, Decimal, String
            Data Type Indicates the selected data type. Toggle, Date, Decimal, String
            Long Name Long name of the data type option, defined based on the business need. Toggle, Date, Decimal, String
            Append Empty Item Select to allow blank as a valid value or response option in a survey picklist. Toggle
            Default Value

            Indicates the default value of the data type. The value in this field is set as the default answer to the question for next visit on the Salesforce org.

            Default Value configuration is available only in the Consumer Goods Cloud desktop app, and can’t be configured for the Consumer Goods Cloud offline mobile app.

            Date, Decimal, String
            Data Length

            Length of data that can be entered for the data type.

            Data type length configuration is available only in the Consumer Goods Cloud desktop app, and can’t be configured for the Consumer Goods Cloud offline mobile app.

            Data Length Decimal Places

            Number of decimal places in a Decimal data type can have. For example, 0 for integer type of data.

            In the Consumer Goods Cloud desktop app, an error is shown if a user enters more decimal places than are allowed.

            In the Consumer Goods Cloud mobile app, decimal places are automatically adjusted to the allowed limit.

          5. Save the changes.
          6. For the Toggle data type, define options to record the response to a question or survey:
            1. Open a toggle data type, and click Related Tab | Data Type Options.
            2. Click New.
            3. Provide these details:
            Field Description
            Identification
            Data Type Name of the data type option, auto-populated with the name of the parent data type.
            Code Unique identity of the data type option.
            Validation Code Stores additional value for implementing custom validations.
            Default Item Default value of the data type option.
            Sort Determines the order in which options appear in the toggle when you enter the response for the questions or product survey.
            ImageId Specifies the image ID for the data type option. You can use the image ID, for example, to reference the image to be uploaded in Modeler.

            Description Language 1/2/3/4 Description of the data type option in the languages configured for the sales org.
            Short Description Language 1/2/3/4 Short description of a data type option in the languages configured for the sales org.
