          Create a Promotion in EPC

To create a promotion, you define basic settings and add products to the promotion. You can change the pricing of products, and add context rules to the promotion.

          1. Complete basic settings about the promotion, including its name, unique code, and the price list the promotion uses. See Basic Promotion Settings.
          2. Add one or more products to the promotion and make the appropriate edits. See Adding a Product to a Promotion.
          3. Change the pricing of any product of the promotion. See Changing the Price of a Product in a Promotion .
          4. Add any context rules to apply to the promotion. See Qualification Rules for Promotions.
          • Promotions Capabilities in EPC
Promotions offers a variety of capabilities. You can configure the cart so that agents or customers can add a promotion list to the cart. You can create more than one promotion to apply to a product or product bundle. You can apply promotions to new or existing line items in the cart. You can use follow-on promotions, apply penalty fees, and define service continuation after a promotion expires.
          • Promotion Design Considerations
When designing a promotion, consider its description, pricing, length of subscription, time frames for child product pricing, and the end of the subscription.
          • Configuration of Products in Promotions
When you create a promotion, you must add and configure at least one product to it. You also need to set the product quantities, a time plan, product hierarchy, and context rules.
          • Define Basic Promotion Settings in the Product Console
When you create a promotion you must define some basic settings in the Product Console. To complete the basic promotion settings, start by creating a new promotion.
          • Add a Product to a Promotion in the Pricing Designer
When you add one or more products to a promotion, you determine what actions occur when the promotion is added to the cart, and then edit the minimum, default, and maximum quantity of the product(s) where applicable. The same promotion applies to all versions of the same product.
          • Product Price Changes in a Promotion
When you create a promotion, you can change the price of a child product with an adjustment or an override.
          • Adjust or Override a Product's Price in a Promotion in the Pricing Designer
You can select a product in the structure and add a pricing adjustment or override to it. Pricing adjustments or overrides to a product in a promotion are defined within the context of the bundle for the parent product.
          • Activate a Follow-on Promotion
A follow-on promotion is a promotion that is active after a previous promotion's commitment duration ends. To indicate within a promotion the next promotion to begin after the initial promotion ends, in the Follow-on Promotion field, search for and find the promotion that follows.
          • Multiple Promotions for a Single Product Bundle
You can create more than one promotion to apply to products in a product bundle. For example, one promotion discounts products 1 and 2 of the product bundle. A different promotion discounts product 3. For promotional pricing to apply to products of product bundles that you have already placed in the cart, the Update Scope setting must be set to Update Item and Child Items.
