You are here:
Create New Versions of Products
As a product administrator, you can create a version of a product offer in a workspace in draft mode and modify the product offer until you release it. If you need to change a released version of a product offer, create a new version and apply your changes to it.
Some common reasons for creating new versions are adding or deleting attributes, child products, and rule assignments or modifying the product specification or object type or product family associated with a product.
- In Vlocity Product Designer, select Products from the menu, and click a product.
-
From the opened product, click New Version.
The New Version dialog opens.
- Enter a version label for the new version, such as Internet Offer Version 2.0.
-
Select the Version Start Date and Version End Date for the new version.
The dates for different versions of a specification can’t overlap. See Product Versioning Start and End Dates.
-
Click Save.
A new version is created with Lifecycle Status of Draft.
For details on which associated objects are cloned or reused, see Versioning and EPC Entities.
- Modify the new version as needed.
When a new version is created, a new global key is generated for the new product. The global group key is cloned from the versioned product. You then see two products with the same fields and values in the General Properties section. The two products also have these same configurations:
-
Structure, with the same Parent-Child Items (PCIs) and the same attribute assignments, such as Download Speed, Capacity
-
Prices on the Pricing tab
-
Attribute assignments
You can delete an unreleased version of a product offer.
- Create New Versions of Child Products
As with a root level (parent) product, a child product can have its own lifecycle and any number of versions. A new version of a child product is listed in the product structure. Creating a new version of a child product does not create a new version of the parent.
