Order Management and Offer Specifications
Starting with Summer '21, you can specify an offer independently from the products that it contains. You model an offer in the catalog to contain products, and when an order is submitted with the offer, Industries Order Management decomposes those products and orchestrates the resulting tasks.
For information about creating and working with offer specifications, see: Offer Specification in EPC
When an order with an offer is submitted, OM decomposes the offer and underlying products into technical products, and then continues with orchestration. That is, everything works just as it would if the order contained each product on its own.
There are two important things to know about how Order Management handles offer specifications:
-
Don't worry if a product within an offer doesn't appear as an order line item. As long as the offer is configured to include a product, then Order Management knows that it's there, and handles it appropriately. Just make sure that any products within an offer are configured as usual.
-
Behind the scenes, Order Management handles offer specifications as if they're products themselves that contain child products. So you could, if you wanted to, configure offers themselves to be decomposed and orchestrated. But you don't need to, since all the included products are handled individually.
