Preparing for Production

This section describes technical inventory and its role in preparing Order Management for production.

  Technical Inventory refers to all the items, such as inventory items, in the Technical Catalog.

  You can define commercial and technical product specifications, including cardinality rules, in the Enterprise Product Catalog. CPQ uses these definitions to drive the order capture process that results in an Order with Order Items.
• Impact of Technical Inventory on Decomposition
  The decomposition component takes the order (customer request) and computes the technical requests needed to fulfill that order. When doing so, the decomposition will build two images:

  The Inventory Items are objects stored in the database and modified during fulfillment. As such, they keep their values in-between orders.

  In many cases, Industries Order Management is deployed for customers that already have large databases of existing assets. This deployment requires a process for asset migration.

  Industries Order Management automatically creates and manages inventory items based on the actions generated during order decomposition.
• Viewing and Updating Technical Inventory from Within Salesforce
  In Order Management Plus, Fulfillment Operators and Fulfilment Designers can access, view, and update the technical inventory from within Salesforce to manually fix an account or re-synchronize the technical inventory with the commercial inventory.
